Haley McNeil doesn’t write songs so much as send them. Every one is addressed to someone: the people who lifted her up, the ones she’s lost, and the one who told her she’d never make it.
Raised on a hundred acres in rural Ontario, McNeil was in the church choir at three, wrote her first song at six, and was gigging in bars by twelve. But the voice, a powerhouse that never seems possible coming out of a 5’3” frame, spent years outrunning her confidence. She filled a vault with songs and released none of them.
That ends now. Her debut single “Growing Season,” an unflinching look at healing that refuses to arrive on schedule, kicks off a run of releases leading to her debut EP Bloom, written after she moved 4,300 km west to bet everything on the dream she’d been keeping quiet.
